Students receive consistent instruction in the Catholic faith through age-appropriate religion texts, daily prayer, and participation in a school-wide Rosary held in the chapel. Faith is not treated as a single subject but woven into the culture of the school. Students are encouraged to grow spiritually, develop moral character, and strengthen their relationship with Jesus Christ as they learn to live out Catholic values in everyday life.
LANGUAGE
Spanish is offered at the High School level to help students develop valuable language skills and cultural awareness. Learning a second language strengthens cognitive development, improves communication abilities, and prepares students for college and future careers. By studying Spanish, students gain confidence in speaking and understanding another language while also developing an appreciation for global cultures and traditions, an important skill in today’s interconnected world.
READING AND LITERATURE
Reading and literature are foundational components of the curriculum at all grade levels. Students engage with meaningful classical literature that builds strong reading comprehension, critical thinking, and analytical skills. Throughout the school year, students read a wide variety of selections, including classic novels, poetry, and short stories. Instruction emphasizes thoughtful discussion, interpretation, and enjoyment of literature. This structured approach helps students develop a lifelong love of reading while strengthening vocabulary, comprehension, and the ability to thoughtfully analyze written works.
PHONICS AND SPELLING
Phonics and spelling instruction is taught daily in the primary grades to build a strong foundation for reading and writing success. Early, intensive phonics instruction helps students understand sound-letter relationships and develop strong decoding skills. This proven approach is highly effective in supporting early literacy development. Through consistent daily practice, students improve word recognition, spelling accuracy, and reading fluency. These foundational skills allow students to become confident readers and support long-term academic success across all subject areas.
ENGLISH AND COMPOSITION
English Grammar Recitation and Classical Composition are taught in grades 3 through 8, providing students with a structured and effective approach to communication. Students learn proper grammar, sentence structure, and composition while studying literature and poetry. Instruction emphasizes clarity, accuracy, and thoughtful expression. Students are taught how to analyze texts, organize their thoughts logically, and communicate ideas with confidence. This program develops strong writing skills and prepares students to express themselves clearly and effectively in both academic and real-world settings.
HANDWRITING
